    Removing Akonadi

    I decided to give Kmail a try but it wasn't for me so reverted back to Thunderbird, the problem now is that every now and then i get a pop up message from Akonadi requesting the 'pop3 password'.

    Can the Akonadi Server and Akonaditray be removed from Kubuntu?

    I've tried disabling it but after a re-boot it seems to be back, I even thought about removing it from the startup programs but i'm not sure how to do that in Kubuntu, if indeed you can?
    Kubuntu 15.10

    Re: Removing Akonadi

    I don't think you can remove akonadi without taking about half of KDE with it - but you can permanently disable the akonadi server by going to ~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc and changing

    StartServer=true

    to

    StartServer=false

    akonadi tray isn't a separate package - but I *think* it will go away if the akonadi server isn't running.

    Hope this helps -
