creating a pdf from a paper document ;-)

I learned something today. Apologies if I'm the only person on the planet who didn't know this, but I needed to scan to pdf this morning and just tripped across a pretty neat solution.

LibreOffice Draw will both run a scanner and export to pdf. I was pretty happy after I learned this one

Simple Scan allows you to save any scanned document to pdf.

          sudo apt-get install simple-scan.

Thanks - I'll try that next time. LO seems to be overkill for what I wanted

gscan2pdf is also pretty good if you don't mind what letter program names begins with.

The easiest way is LO or OO. I use LO now, OO previously, to export my .odf electronic books to .pdf.

                Another option is Scribus.

A somewhat more tedious option is GIMP if you have cupsscan installed and print to a pdf, however sometimes the results are less than desireable because GIMP uses bitmap.
