One of the apps has the menubar missing (File, Edit, etc. in TrueCrypt) after the Natty upgrade, and I'm wondering if this might be a GTK issue? Has anyone else seen this in Natty?

Re: menubar missing in some apps? (truecrypt)
As with some other Gnome apps, try changing the GTK+ Appearance Widget style to Raleigh and then back to oxygen-gtk with TrueCrypt running. Then close TrueCrypt and reopen it.Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

OK, tried that. Then tried changing other GTK+ styles - the appearance of the widget changes a lot, but the menubar does not come back. Also tried "Use another font" and made sure I hit "Apply" between changes...
I don't know if this help diagnose the problem(s) - the applet has lost the ability to call Dolphin to open mounted volumes (either by a double click or by Right-Click/Open). This is almost the exact same behavior I noticed in OpenSuSE 11.4, so I'm pretty sure it's related to change in KDE.

Verify that you have the package appmenu-gtk installed. If it isn't installed, install it.Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Re: menubar missing in some apps? (truecrypt)
Does the app have a window boarder?
What is contained in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80appmenu ?Windows no longer obstructs my view.

patti@dv7t-Kubuntu64:~$ type /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80appmenu
bash: type: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80appmenu: not found
patti@dv7t-Kubuntu64:~$
(now why didn't that work?) So I tried Kate:
if [ -f /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/menuproxies/libappmenu.so ]
then
export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY="libappmenu.so"

Re: menubar missing in some apps? (truecrypt)
The command isn't 'type' - it's cat.
Code:cat /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80appmenu
Have you simply tried right-clicking on the window boarder (top) and seeing if there is a Menu Bar option to be checked?Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Re: menubar missing in some apps? (truecrypt)
Yes. All I could find in that case was the option (under "Advanced") to have no border. But nothing on a menu. Well, maybe it's more of a TC problem than a GTK/KDE/DBus problem.
I did find this, but it seems more of a global problem than what I'm experiencing.

Is there another GNOME applet you can suggest that I can try to see if it's a problem with all my gnome thingies or just the TC thingie?

This is apparrently a known/reported bug. At least one poster said that unistalling appmenu-gtk solved the missing menu bar in TrueCrypt: Comment 21 for bug 662077Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Wow! Thank you very much. Assuming that doesn't break other stuff, that appears to be the fix. How did you find that one? Was it buried somewhere in that post I found? You have good eyes if you spotted that comment - most of that text was too technical for me and my eyes were swimming. Thank you for finding that.
