So my USB gamepad (pretty standard logitech one) seems to double as mouse input in KDE. Is there any way to disable that?

I was able to find a page concerning your issue here. Should you choose Qjoypad listed in answer #3, you can also go here to receive further instructions.
In addition, here is a thread on Ubuntu's forum that might be of further help should you continue to have difficulties.
