but I really have no idea what is up!
I have a nice new mother board with a 4 core AMD CPU.
With two disks I have two OS loaded: 1 64 bit Kubuntu 10.10 and
one 64 bit Kubuntu 11.04.
the 10.10 seems to work fine, with at least some of the usual problems
E.G. no sound yet!
The other disk is obstinate in its refusal to boot any 11.04 version. I have
tried Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Mint. Exactly the same problem for each of them.
i.e. invalid KDE session & kstartupconfig4 does not exist of fails message. err
Well Ubuntu just fails to load; hangs up and waits forever!
OK what now - this seems sort of fatal - the Natty Narwhal has been harpooned!
Help me please!

I have no idea what was wrong but I blundered through by
re-partitioning that disk; which solved the problem, whatever it was.
