[SOLVED] Netbook w/ 11.04 has blank boxes at screen bottom, why?

I've installed 11.04 on my netbook and it works well, but I'm accumulating blank yellow boxes at the bottom of the screen. They might have something to do with recent documents based on the text I can sometimes make out over the boxes, but I can't click (right- or left-) on them or select them. Or get them off my screen!

    Any suggestions? Screenshot attached...

those look like sticky notes plaama widgets, which happen when one pastes/drags text onto the desktop

you should be able to manipulate them if your desktop widgets are not locked, not sure if the Search And Launch desktop activity gets in the way of that, however.

Sure enough, once I do Add Widgets (!) I can remove them. Since I didn't add them on purpose, do you know how I might avoid adding them again in future?

I have gotten them by inadvertently dragging text form, say, a browser window that has frozen up. But if the desktop is locked, I can't get it to happen, so the locking may prevent it.
