kontact always autostarts after logging in

kontact always starts up automatically after logging into kde. The underlying problem seems to be that any kontact program that is started externally (like korganizer or kaddressbook) will also start kontact.
Does anybody know how to deal with this? It is kind of annoying...

System Settings >> Startup and Shutdown >> Session management

The default is to run the applications open when the system is shut down or logged off
