Upgrade From Maverick to Natty - Won't Boot

I upgraded from Maverick 10.10 to Natty 11.04. The upgrade process was without error. When rebooting, The notebook goes immediately to the grub menu. This is a Dell Latitude E6500 with an Nvidia card.

Does anyone have any ideas on this one?

Okay, I have been able to get the notebook to boot by typing the following at the grub prompt:

    root (hd0,1)
    linux /vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1
    initrd /initrd.img
    boot

The machine booted with no problems. I rebooted and had to enter the same commands again. The machine came up with no problems. My question now is, how do I fix this so that manually entering these commands is not necessary?

    TIA

      Have you tried

      sudo update-grub

I did try that but it made no difference. See my last response to see what did work.

        Thanks...
