    Help: 11.04 freezing on load.

    I upgraded a Revo 3600 to 11.04.

It would not shut down. I had to physically switch off. Worse when the power was reconnected the system would boot without being switched on. Googling this is not an isolate problem and my other 11.04 (fresh install) does the just the same. That's an eMachine ER1402.

I removed the Nvidia driver in the hope that this might be causing the problem. Now the system freezes on boot with just some blue stripes across the screen. I need to rescue that system. What can I try?

You might try reinstalling the nvidia driver, and disabling ACPI from the grub boot option.

Although this will mean you have to power off manually after you've shut down. If that's the problem you were originally complaining of, you might want to try un-disabling ACPI from the grub boot option.
