Thought it was time to start a new thread. I'm having an assortment of issues and am going to number them.
For the uninitiated, it's been a week since I went from DSL to cable Internet, and almost simultaneously started using a new router, too. It's Earthlink/Time Warner cable and my router is an ASUS RT-N16; some of my computers are connected to the router via Ethernet cable while others are wireless. Okay, here we go:
1) Since that night (3 days ago) when we had a thunderstorm, and my router suddenly went bonkers, and I had to re-do everything to get back up and running, I've been unable to upload images to my CafePress account. Yesterday I couldn't upload anything; today I can, but only if the image is < ~2.5MB (and my images are typically 25-30MB). Depending on the browser I try, I get error messages such as:
and
CafePress denies any issues at their end. I'm perfectly able to upload MUCH bigger images elsewhere, such as a 30MB image I lftped to one of my domains' servers as a test. No problems whatsoever.
Among the browsers I've tried:
SeaMonkey (my main browser)
Opera
Firefox
reKonq
Arora
Kazehakase
Epiphany
Konqueror
Chrome
on a total of four computers.
Chrome was the most helpful as far as giving me a hint as to what the problem(s) may be. Its error page says:
I've done all of its suggestions that I could. I'm not using a firewall other than the router's, and I even tried disabling it (since I didn't see a place to "add Google Chrome as a permitted program") but that didn't help. All of my browsers are set for "Direct connection to the Internet," although SeaMonkey now has "Use system proxy settings" checked--and I'm unable to change that. However, my system proxy settings are "Connect to the Internet directly."
I CANNOT go on being unable to upload to CafePress. Again, until three days ago I had no issues at all. HELP!
2) How do I stop my computers' IP addresses from [seemingly] randomly changing throughout the day? It happens ALL the time. Last night, at a command line, I started up what I knew would be a long process, copying a media directory recursively from one computer to my new laptop. I was doing it verbose so I could see the file names as they were copying. When I got up this morning I expected it to be finished...but instead I had a bunch of "server is down" errors. Of course, the server WASN'T down, its IP address had just magically changed during the night and, hence, the partially failed copy operation. Prior to my new combo of cable modem and ASUS router, the only times my IP addresses used to change involved things like a power outage (so the DSL modem and LinkSys router lost power and then came back up), but now it LITERALLY happens throughout the day.

The connection to upload.cafepress.com was interrupted.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the wrench menu > Preferences > Under the Hood > Change Proxy Settings... and make sure your configuration is set to "no proxy" or "direct."
Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset.
