I just updated my system and discovered that my wireless was gone. The scan in Network Connections does find the router, however. The problem might be that network-manager-kde isn't installed, but when I attempted to install it via Synaptic, I got this:
I don't even know if the lack of network-manager-kde is the source of my problems, but if it is, I don't know how to get it installed. If it matters, I have an Atheros wireless adapter.
The solution: install the package plasma-widget-networkmanagement, which is a replacement for network-manager-kde. It does the job as a widget; as far as I can tell, there is no longer any way to get network-manager-kde to work.
Code:
network-manager-kde: Depends: knm-runtime (=0.9~svngit20110408-0ubuntu2) but 0.9~svngit20110728-0ubuntu3~natty1~ppa4 is to be installed
