SOLVED: Overscan problem with HDMI TV

    Hello.

I have a TV connected to my PC using HDMI. When I set it to run at maximum resolution (1920x1080), it cuts off all four edges of the screen so that only the central part of the screen is visible. I believe the term for this is "overscan".

I am running Kubuntu 11.04 and KDE 4.6.2. My video card is a ATI Radeon HD 5750. I am using the open-source driver. (The ATI driver causes all sorts of other problems, so I do not want to use that.)

I have searched and found several threads but no solution. Can anyone help?

    Many thanks in advance.

Check your Picture setting on your HDTV.See if it has a just scan setting.I had the same problem.I changed the setting from 16.8 to just scan.fixed my problem

Yes! You're right. There was a scan setting called "screen fit" which fixed my problem.

      Thanks for the reply.
