apport broken in both 32- and 64-bit

Guess the developers got tired of all those pesky bug reports

Latest upgrade (as of about an hour and a half ago) broke apport. dpkg reports an installation script error - I tried purging and reinstalling both 32- and 64-bit.

I figure it'll be fixed soon.

      Yup - that.

A fix has already been committed and I figure it should be in the repos shortly.

Just got mine fixed, but I had to
        Code:
sudo apt-get remove --reinstall apport apport-kde
to get past the failed install.

That doesn't fix the problem - it just removes apport and apport-kde -- it doesn't reinstall either of them. :P

EDIT: However, within a few minutes of the dist-upgrade, I was informed of another update. That dist-upgrade reinstalled apport and apport-kde.

On my machines both 32- and 64-bit installed correctly but refuse to start.

Installed correctly and starting up just fine here.

Not here. purged all and removed /etc/apport and /usr/share/apport and reinstalled. No joy

That's pretty weird. I'd say file a bug report, but that would be just cruel. You should probably get on the bug report lists and report you issues.

Found the problem in the bug report here -

                    https://bugs.launchpad.net/apport/+bug/767498

                    and fixed it.

                    /etc/default/apport had

                    enabled=0

in there. Changed it to 1 and apport started on both machines.

                    Strange.

Thanks for that. Checked mine, and it was set not to start. Fixed that.
