    Kubuntu 11.04 x64 Alpha 3 and Updates

While running updates I've found that it will not go past 44% completed ... says "installing packages" and it just never completes.. I left it for an entire day and no progress.. anything I can do?

IF you are doing the updates via KPackageKit or another GUI Package Manager (Synaptic say), and you have non-free packages installed that required you to acknowledge a EULA (some JAVA does this; some Adobe packages do), then what may be causing your described problem is the EULA pop-up window containing the EULA and Okay button that you have to click (the Okay button) to procede, is hiding behind the package manager - it's underneath it - and until it is acknowledged, the process 'stops' and the update doesn't finish. IF this is the case, just minimize the package manager so you can see the EULA window. Make it active (click on the title bar) and press the Tab key to get to the Okay button and press Enter. The agreement window will close and the update will continue.
