If you have copied text output that contains formatting (colors, highlighting, etc.), please do not enclose it in QUOTE or CODE tags. Just right-click your mouse and choose "Paste Without Formatting" or similar (Paste as plain text).
After installation of Kubuntu 11.04 I lost my first partition with windows xp. The partition is total unformated. > I lost all my data.
Did the partition get overwritten? If not you should be able to recreate it and get the data back but when you recreate the partition the start and end cylinders must match the original partition.
Suggest you get a copy of System Rescue CD and run testdisk against the drive - if the partition's still there testdisk can recover it.
Depends on what you mean by "unformatted" because there's really no such thing - it was either re-formatted, over-written, or the partition table was altered.
The level of recovery possible will be dependent on how it was altered. If if was over-written by your installer you're likely out-of-luck for much recovery. If it's still intact but unaccessible, it's likely you'll get all your files back but possibly it won't be bootable.
