    [solved] kde daemon (kded) crashing

As soon as the kde desktop starts, I get a warning message that the KDE Daemon has crashed.
If I try to start it from konsole, it appears to start, but coredumps on the next keypress.
    Anyone else with this issue?
I tried reinstalling kdelibs4c2a, the package that apparently contains kded, but it does not help.

    Hi,

don't have any kind of problem related to yours.

can you run it with strace kded4 ??

    Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
    Release: 14.04
    Codename: trusty

      Re: kde daemon (kded) crashing

After logging into KDE, right after the splash screen, I get a crash message, and it says that kdeinit4 has crashed with Signal:Segmentation Fault (11).

Attached is the file kded4-20101228-140005.kcrash.txt which is the backtrace from that crash.

When attempting to run strace kded4, I get the same crash message. The attached file kded4-20101228-140526.kcrash.txt is the backtrace, and strace-kded4.txt is the terminal output.

        Hi,

I'm no debug expert, but it appears that is related to Dbus or solid!

Yes, I do, and I have tried booting both with and without it plugged in -- same result.

The new 2.6.37 kernel now has built-in support for wacom tablets.

Hmmm. I wonder if this might be causing a conflict with the xserver-wacom-input package.
          Will have to experiment further.

            Re: kde daemon (kded) crashing

The KDED plugin that comes with the System Settings module for tablet configuration appears to be causing this crash. Removing the kde-config-tablet package will fix this crash.

Yep, that fixed it. Seems to have fixed a couple of other problems as well. KDE is behaving itself now, and that goes for both natty, and maverick with kde-4.6.
              Thanks.

Just wanted to send out a huge thank you! I was afraid I would have to drag my computer over to the cable modem in the other room, since wireless wasn't working. You saved me.
