I am looking to resolve an issue that seems to have appeared after firefox was updated to 10.02 and Java applets no longer running.
I have :
I have the sun-java packages locked so they can not be changed, but something, probably the ff sneaked around and nuked the plugin settings.
Normally I run the Java applets from a differing machine with an older setup of things, so was not aware that the ff 10.0.2 update nuked the plugin from working till I had to use a much newer machine.
I've tried to reinstall the plugin per various web posts and creating a symbolic link in this or that directory to the plugin, but the .so file is not there, nor is that path.
Note this is for 64bit Kubuntu Maverick and Oneiric
Testing via Konqi in http://javatester.org/version.html shows the correct information.
Any ideas on correcting this ? ? * On Maverick and on Oneiric as well.
* NOTE: I am not interested in anything but REAL Sun Java, and not interested in Java 7, openjdk, icedtea etc.. Why? For one none of the software I use is compatible with these, never has been, never will be. I am not interested in updating Java to .31 if the process removes .26 since these packages are not available to reinstall. I am fully aware of the political BS going on with oracrudle et al over this.. I am simply not interested in their nonsense, I just want my software to work, and I'd like to know who broke the plugin to give them a piece of my mind.
I have :
Code:
java version "1.6.0_26" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02, mixed mode)
