Thanks 'josefko' I did not know that:

'If you answer no, all files in home directory will stay intact and all old system files will be removed and replaced with a fresh install'

Certainly the best way to go about this I reckon.

      And for 'dibl'

Yo dude - no live disk, on-line upgrade which has been working fine up to now!

And yes 'kstartup etc etc etc - I agree probably something hanging around but zapped now!!

      Bi.

Good advice there, leadwt. I'm a hard drive abuser so I have taken to pre-partitioning and formatting before I run a new install.

Then you just have to select the target partition, add the mount point, don't tick the format box, and away you go.

I started doing that years ago when I ran into a troublesome installer that didn't want to do it my way. I just stuck to it. One extra step, but it helps me keep all my stuff (data-wise) straight.
