This is just strange.
I have two printers one is a LPT Laserjet 6P which has ALWAYS worked with ANY Linux period end of story. AND it print(ed) notice the (ed) from a document, browser you name it.
I have printed the college's "mideterm" and "final" grades for several years now with it.
I also have an HPF350 multi function USB and it also prints.
Today, using Firefox I was not able to print the mid term grades using the Laserjet 6P and it won't print from within "blackboard" the college's site, and it will also not print from the FF browser.
When I go to "page setup" it has a "printer box" that is labled:
Any Printer for portable documents.
Within the box are the two printers presented as options.
I can select the Laserjet 6P but it still won't print.
The Laserjet 6P says it is "online"
The HP F350 says "ready to print".
Now, the question is.....is this a situation with FF or with MM or a combination of the two? Possibly a driver that MM chose? hpijs 3.1.6 (I can't find if it is gutenprint, cups whatever for some reason).
I have NEVER...........NEVER seen a "printer box" like that. And even had to look up the term "printer for portable documents" and then realized that it was talking about .pdf.
So... does Firefox 3.6.15 now ASSUME that all documents printed from the browser are going to be PDFs? Because I can find no settings, or preferences or anything in FF that will allow me to chose the "kind" of printer like...
a) printer for portable documents
b) any printer
Or is this something that is an interaction between MM and FF?
And the reason I say that is that I can print this page driectly from Rekonq, I just did it as a test so it can't be something about the complexity of the page...OR even the printer driver gutenprint/cups/whatever
any comments?
