Is this package useful on an American English machine? Or is it for use only on a British unit?
It has been showing up on my update notification.

This package contains the translation files for all KDE core applications for the language "British English".

If you use the United States of America locale then I'm guessing you might not need your applications translated to British English. Some people do like to mix and match languages and locales for their own reasons though.
