resolved with no end case: where folder kontact/kmail theme

    Hi
In another thread it was indicated that my downloaded file Kfacebook, is a "theme" file.

Supposedly, in the little that is available on the net, it will add a "notification" item as it were to Kontact to check posts to Facebook.

The only "themes" that I have been able to find in Kontact is in Kmail, which "seems to me" to be where "the developers put things like themes".

The developers(not Kubu) went through several iterations of how to go about letting the user change themes, but the theme menu item is, as of now, not functional.

The only other themes are actually in Kmail itself, fancy, fancy clickable, etc.

However, again, there is no "search for new themes" in that interactive box.

Soooo I have searched very long for a folder somewhere that has an item in it named "fancy" and used the search function to no avail.

It may be that the "real" names are not "fancy" etc. don't know..

It "may" be that this has been purposely constrained so that the "developers" can test putting something like Kfacebook in Kontact before it is allowed for the general public, or I don't know what.

It may be that adding Kfacebook as a theme will completely bollix up either Kontact or the system in general. If it does and I can't change it back by removing Kfacebook from where I might place it....there is always Gparted! lol.

This is a test system, I'd just like to see if it can be made workable.

thanks for any help ahead of time.

If any file or folder has the word fancy in its name then this command will find it:

    Code:
    locate -i fancy
It may be that the "real" names are not "fancy" etc. don't know..
Well that just makes things harder

    Edit
I should remind you that the locate database is only updated once per day on most systems. To force an update of the database invoke updatedb with sudo. It usually takes less than five minutes, even on my slow computer.

    Code:
    sudo updatedb

Not really that smart. I just spend a great deal of time reading documentation.

As a note, that theme file is for Kopete's chat area, if this is the same file from kde-look.org as mentioned in another topic.

And usr/lib/python2.6/disutils/name has nothing to do with kmail, btw.

kmail has minimal theming available, the theme options you see are more for the header presentation iirc.

What part of kmail are you trying to change the look/color/theme for? As kontact/kmail/etc follow system color schemes, you can change that from system settings, but that would change things system-wide.

                Re: where folder kontact/kmail theme

                Hi
                well two things.
                a) the fancy was indeed at the place, the description in it is kind of hilarious, the guy talks about superkallafragalisticexpeladoceious etc.

But it does describe the appearence of things etc.

                b) the Kfacebook is not the same kind of file, totally different kinds of information inside it, so , apparently there is either an unhappy intersection of names, or the guy lofted the thing knowing that he might get the play on words, I tend toward the former.

However, I DO KNOW about how to find a file using CLI!!

Thanks again for the suggestions folks, I'll mark this as resolved.
