Strange problem with News widget and Wine

I have the news widget on my desktop (Version 1.0) and I have Wine installed. If I click on a news item, I get the Wine wineglass icon plus a cog icon (Internet Explorer?) bouncing up and down, then it appears to get into a loop and launch more and more of these wine processes until I have to shut the PC down.

Anyone got any clues?

dunno what method you used to install ie, but perhaps it set a file association for rss files. Go into System Settings' File Associations config, search for 'rss' and make sure your preferred browser or application is at the top of the list

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that and Winebrowser was set as one of the applications for .rss, but it was the 4th preference. However it was top option for both .html and .xml so I fixed those, and it solved the problem.
