[Solved] Please test mp4 in firefox 4?

I have both FF3.6 and 4.0 RC installed as well as the mozilla-vlc plugin.

I am doing some testing for a android app taking content from a webpage.
There is a mp4 movie that should have play but it doesn't.
I can't use .flv as the app doesn't support .flv

I was wondering if anyone would like to test and see if it plays on your rig.
It doesn't work in ff3.6, FF4.0, Chromium or rekonq. (it works on rekonq in Natty alpha3 )

    This is the page:
    http://www.nextup.ch/index.php?optio...id=188&lang=en

Many thanks for any feedback on this.

Re: Please test 3gp in firefox?

Yeah, sorry I had to move it to a content page instead of k2 item.
    http://www.nextup.ch/index.php?optio...id=188&lang=en

I also changed the format to mp4 instead of 3gp (quicktime).
Both formats crash my FF4 beta.
    Works on rekonq in natty.

But mp4 is more popular on the web.

    Thanks for the missing "r"

Firefox will play that 3gp if you have gecko-mediaplayer installed.

Thank you for that but I have changed to mp4 and that does not play at all.
        Even with geck-mediaplayer installed.

        I am missing something here.

Have you installed kubuntu-restricted-extras? also check aboutlugins to make sure that gecko-mediaplayer is properly installed.

          The video plays fine here:

            Hi
I saw a black box with the words "Video Anker" in it.
FF displayed a box saying that it had to install plugins to play the media.
I clicked the requestor and it said that it wanted to install:

            Gecko Media Player
            Totem Mozilla Plugin

After a password entry it did that.

At first I saw a white box with controls at the bottom and text indicating that it was cacheing the video. It sat there for a while.

I clicked the "pause" button and the pause button changed....to pause! lol, but then the box was black and the video began playing.

It displayed a title, some messages and showed some guys singing in what appeared to be a club.

            There was sound.

Re: Please test mp4 in firefox 4?

                    I'm running FF-4.0 with FlashResolver.

Your site shows Xine loading a cache but never getting off of 0%. Disabling Xine results in a blank screen. Clicking on the screen causes a "waiting on video" in white letters to show, but nothing happens. Disabling FlashResolver does not help.

I also have DownloadHelper installed. When I click on it's icon in the tool bar I get the option to capture the URL (in this case of "soul.mp4"). I then open VLC and use "play streaming video", which shows me the video. Wow, that is some BAD music.

Are you trying to make some point?? I can't believe that you asked if kubuntu-restricted-extras was installed.

The video above is a screencast I made, showing firefox playing/streaming the mp4 (not youtube) video using gecko-mediaplayer plugin

                              Thanks for the input.
                              Gecko is needed.

I was hoping for a KDE solution, but so be it.

I'll mark this as solved even though it does not work on chromium here.

                              Cheers
