Kate Crashing When Opening Files

After migrating to Kubuntu 10.10 Kate frequently crashes when opening files. Most files were created by Kate and now Kate can't open them without experiencing a sig 11, segmentation error.

I see a number of people have / are experiencing this problem but I haven't seen any satisfactory explanations, solutions, or workarounds.

I used to use Kate all the time and it is great, if it works!

Any suggestions on how to get Kate working reliably. I have purged and reinstalled to no avail.

Hi, maybe you should try and run the latest bugrelease version of the KDE distributed with 10.10. What version are you running now? (see in the Help -> About menu)
