To enable video ripping from DVD's I installed k3b from source following the directions at http://www.norman.hooper.name/blog/p...g-k3b-kubuntu/. Now, KPackageKit (and apt-get) continuously want to "update" k3b back to the crippled binary packages. The binary packages were not installed at the time I installed from source. I don't want to bothered with k3b "updates" until there really is a new version, and then I would really like the system to recognize that they were installed from source. Can this be done, or is there another repository somewhere without a crippled k3b? Medibuntu, which I'm already using, doesn't include a k3b.
