switching between Ubuntu desktop and Kubuntu desktop[solved]

I have a friend who is using Kubuntu on his computer[which is currently suffering hardware failure]. He wanted to try the GNOME desktop[don't ask about it...] so I ran the lovely command
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
The installing went well, took awhile, but that was expected. My question is fairly simple at this point: Is it possible to switch back to the original Kubuntu, and all the settings that it used to have? Or when I installed the Ubuntu desktop, I said sayanora to all of it? If I didn't, how can I quickly switch back and forth between them without reinstalling them every time? Thanks for any and all help!

at the login window there is a sessions button that when clicked will show the desktop's you can chose from(KDE,Gnome, fluxbox) whatever you have.

are you now geting the Ubuntu login window (gdm) or do you still have the Kubuntu one(kdm) ?

you can switch betwen them as well

I have a question regarding this issue as well, if I may.

When switching between D.E.s, what programs will the menus show? Specific or both combined?

      Thank you.

Yeah, it was the Ubuntu login, and I noticed[like most GNOME login screens]that there was a little option at the bottom slightly middle panel to change something. Didn't think of it till now, I'll click on it when my friend fixes his hardware issue, to try it out. Thanks for the help!

Though FreshFlesh's question would be nice to hear as well, if you know the answer[I most certainly don't :P]

should be both combined but if your missing something that you know is their you can alwase add it to the menu with one of the menu editors.
