[SOLVED]KPackageKit Dependancy Problems[SOLVED] See my last post...

I keep runing into some pretty exausting issues when it comes to downloading rather common files from KPackageKit. I've tried downloadig some things that are rather common, like xscreensaver-data-extra for example. The message I get is this:

    Dependancy Resolution Failed- KPackageKit

A package dependency could not be found.
More information is available in the detailed report.
    Under the "Details" panel:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
xscreensaver-data-extra: Depends: libjpeg-progs but it is not installable
Now here's the deal, you're probably thinknig this is not that big of an issue, I didn't think it was a first either, but this sort of thing happens with nearly EVERY thing I try to get from the package kit, it's almost always some lib problem. Any ideas on how I can get all the libs I need?

    Re: KPackageKit Dependancy Problems

KPackageKit, while it has improved - alot - since it's debut, still has some maturing to do. Do your self a favor, and either install Synaptic or Muon. If you don't want to do that, use KPackageKit to locate the package you want, then install it from the console using:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install package
If unmet dependencies are reported this way, then there are real dependency issues, and the package should not be forced.

      Have you fetched updates?
Do you have any external repos enabled (PPA's)?

I don't think this is a KPackageKit issue, it sounds like a broken/missing package issue in apt.

So try the command-line to see if there is more info on the error:
      Code:
      sudo apt-get update
      and
      Code:
      sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Just one external ppa, but it's from a trusty launchpad user. I'm just trying to install things from the official repositories right now.

          Re: KPackageKit Dependancy Problems

Well, a simulated install of xscreensaver-data-extra works here (Maverick w/KDE 4.6.00). I'd be inclined to think that what ever package(s) you installed with the 'trusted' ppa might be causing the dependency problem.

Well I haven't even installed any packages from that ppa, I can't install Muon either, it's missing libs too, every lib around me seems to be missing, this is nuts.

Sure did, this is what it said:

                Code:
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
And here's what I got from the get update:

Somehow I solved the problem in the settings, I just selected each one of the ppas and edited the origins, didn't change anything, but somehow that fixed, weird.
