Okular opens up and disappears before it can display .pdf file

I have in the past used Okular instead of Acrobat Reader to open and manipulate pdf files. This is no longer possible on my notebook. The applications starts loading but disappears before it even gets to the first screen.

Does anyone else have a similar problem with Okular?

You may already have a zombie Okular instance running. Open up System Monitor and click on the process table tab. Sort the processes by clicking on the "Name" column. If you find "Okular" listed right click on it and select "End Process".

Try starting it from the command line to see if it gives you any debug output that might expain why it just disappears

I anm curious to see if the process dies, or just loses it's gui.

No zombies running.

Command line start: Okular starts, crashes as soon as I attempt to open a file.
