I'm using gufw to manage my firewall but I'm not convinced it is doing anything.
When I open it the status is set to 'enabled' with Incoming traffic set to 'deny' and Outgoing set to 'allow'.
As a test I used the pre-configured rules to deny both incoming and outgoing traffic for KTorrent. My understanding is that having done this KTorrent should not be able to function yet it can still upload and download.
I've checked that the ports used by KTorrent (6881 and 4444) are the same which gufw has set to deny.
Am I missing something?
