Hello, I have 3 questions.
I just reinstalled 10.10 and did the usual upgrades and tweaks. I wanted to try Gnome/Ubuntu for a change, so I set up 2x20 GB partitions on my HD, one for KDE/Kubuntu and one with Gnome (I wanted to keep them separated and not use ubuntu-/kubuntu-desktop) and kept ~200 GB for data files. I made the 200 GB drive mount on login and have all my stuff there and made me as user able to read-write folder "myfiles" in /media/HDD/myfiles. So the question I have will this be a security risk ? (I can't write w/o sudo to /media/HD ) And second question is if its a bad idea to read+write to that mounted HDD from both Gnome & KDE partition - is there a risk there will be a conflict?
Another thing is that I wanted to try cairo-dock. I installed it and it was working very nice but then I had the idea to change icons and it crashed and wouldn't start again. There seemed to be a conflict with icon-themes. I removed and --purged all cairo packages, removed the .config/cairo-dock folder, but reainstalling it again didn't make any diifrence. I assume that there are some settings still in the system so, When I do a locate /*cairo* (output below), could I safely remove all of them and reinstall cairo-dock?
this is the output after a --purge and reboot
PS: cairo-dock isn't any mono/propriety stuff is it?
