According to the kmail manual, kmail's mail is kept in ~/Mail, but that file does not exist. Instead, it appears that the mail is kept in .kde/share/apps/kmail/mail. i determined that by starting kmail in an environment where I had not used it before.
I then tried something else. I wanted to point kmail at a mail file on the network, so I created a link to that other mail file in .kde/share/apps/kmail/mail, expecting kmail to process it. But no such luck: when I started kmail again after doing the copy, I got this:
What is going on here? And how can I get kmail to work from that other mail file? In fact, that other mail file is registered in dropbox, but that shouldn't be relevant.
