How do I use a patch?

There's a first time for everything.

I have downloaded the VMWare Player patch for making VMWare Player work with the new Linux kernel, the one used for Kubuntu 10.10, having searched and found Dibl's post about this.

So I want to use the patch to get VMWare Player working in my shiny new Kubuntu 10.10 OS. Please tell me how I use the patch!

    In advance thank you.

See VMware Player / Workstation -- kernel 2.6.35 patch and read through completely. Pay attention to the post by dibl.

      Thank you, Snowhog!

It worked. Now I can run XP inside Linux. So cool!
