I was hoping to get rid of windows with this release as Skype on 10.04 worked to my satisfaction. Unfortunately Skype on 10.10 is not worth using when I can get it to work On 10.10 the image sent is 320x240 pixels whereas on 10.04 it was 640x480 pixels. When I am calling someone with Skype the system monitor shows that 100% of CPU is being used. The computer that I am testing 10.10 on has a CPU speed on 1.8GHz and memory of 1.5GB. Sometimes the sound does not work and using the Echo/Sound Test fails when this happens.
The good news is that when I tested Skype with the RC1 it did not work at all. So this represents an improvement. I hope that it does not take Skype to long to build a version that works with the new libraries on 10.10. Unfortunately, knowing how fast Skype release new upgrades, I might have to wait a long time before moving my main computer to 10.10.
