keyboard buttons act as if being held down

hello, i have a HP DV8000 laptop which dual boots to Windows and Kubuntu.

over the last few months i have noticed that KDE is behaving strangely. many time while i am typing the keyboard behaves as if i am holding down a key and thus repeats. for instance, i will be typing and then say i press and type the 'n' key i will get 'nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn....' until i hit some other key. also, have notice that shift will also stick so suddenly i get all caps. this is happening for all keys. do not see this problem under windows so i am sure it is not the keyboard.

Look in System Settings > Accessibility > Activation Gestures. Do you by chance have sticky keys set?

If it's not a sticky keys problem, and your keyboard works OK under Windows, I suggest looking at your keyboard config.
