[Fixed] Newly Created Users Cannot Change Password as Required at Login [Fixed]

Okay this is confusing to me.

I just loaded Kubuntu 10.10 on my new Win7 laptop and the dual boot and grub are working just fine. My issue is when I create new users the system is requiring the new user at first login to change their password "(root enforced)".

Okay fine - type in new password in the "Changing Authentication Token" and,... no characters showing,.. no text in the password fields,.. in fact that little dialog box is pinned in place and cannot be moved out of the way. It's like that little "token" panel application is locked up and can't complete it's job.

The install is with the Alternate CD download 10.10 i386, I ran the check sum on the download and checked the CD at install and it all seemed to go through just fine and booted up slick as a whistle.

But I can not get past this change password dialog box when a new user logs in for the first time. I am forced to log back in to the original user created at Kubuntu install.

I did NOT have this issue when I loaded 10.04 on the very same laptop in a VirtualBox environment in Win7.

    Any ideas?

Just saw this looking through the "new guy" forum.

    "I found a strange workaround:-
Click OK even though the passwords are empty, then ok the standard error dialog that shows up.
Then you are back at the new password entry dialog, and text input works.
Bizarre, but for some reason it works."
Lead by example, but be an example worth following.
