    Kmix Memory Usage

    Hi all,

This is more post-post-installation, but the two previous posts relating to this topic were from this forum too, so here goes.

I was looking at my memory usage while tuning Apache, and noticed Kmix using a huge amount of swap memory - 584mb according to top. I quit and restarted Kmix and it went straight back to the same usage.

So is this how much Kmix should be expected to use or is something wrong?

I found two posts covering Kmix memory usage, but they seemed to related to a different issue where Kmix was also causing high cpu usage:
    http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3114879.0
    http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3114507.0

    I've attached a top screengrab.

    Thanks for any help.

    Cheers
    Hans

      Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for that - did you get a chance to check?

Thanks for the info - I get a similar report using the kde system monitor.

Just to prove that one should always RTFM, I Googled a bit on top's swap field and it turns out this does not actually represent the true amount of memory swapped out to disk.
            This was a helpful article:
            http://www.linuxforums.org/articles/...iently_89.html

So I'm going to find a different tool to report memory usage from cli - any suggestions?

            Thanks

              hanskuhn,
I checked top on my system and posted the results below... Looks similar.

Maybe try the command sar -B command for swap?

Hmm, that command doesn't exist on my system. Nice link, by the way - thanks.
