Just upgraded from beta1 to beta2. Like after update to 4.5.3 I have broken desktop. No taskbar, just wallpaper and nothing more. I can hear sounds from skype being connected. It works after removing .kde directory but appears again after re-logon. So removing .kde each time is not a solution.
I guess this is because of two monitors, because after configuring them on clean .kde and re-logon I have same issue.

anyone having monitor troubles? my vga monitor wants to go into sleep mode after one min. I have the power management stuff in settings off so it should not do this. Is there some other section where its contorted that I don't no about?

kubuntu 10.10 kde 4.6b2
Intel i3 530 using on-board graphics
Ga-H55M-S2H with F7 bios. 4gb ram

I also could not launch applications from the panel until I discovered that the widgets weren't locked. Once they are locked then the applications launch fine.

Exactly the same situation here. Thanks for that tip.
