Installing Kubuntu Maverick 10.10 64-bit from the Live CD stalls at:
Running "update-grub" ... 66%
for over 30 minutes.
Final slide from installation slide show remains on screen:
"Get involved and contribute to Kubuntu ... The installation will finish soon. We hope you enjoy Kubuntu."
I have been moving the cursor about every two minutes to keep the system from going to sleep / hibernating / etc.
This has happened three times.
Dual-booting with Windows 7 Home Premium
Manual partitioning: Windows 7 partitions on /dev/sda1, 2, 3
/ on /dev/sda5
swap on /dev/sda6
/home on /dev/sda7
Hardware:
Toshiba Satellite C655 laptop (brand new)
CPU: Intel Pentium T4500 2.3 GHz dual-core
Chipset: Mobile Intel GL40 Express
Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500DM with dynamically-allocated shared graphics memory
System RAM: 4 GB
I have looked for this problem and used the search function in the Kubuntu forums to see if anybody else has had this problem, and cannot find any other related posts.
