    [SOLVED] No sticky notes widget/plasmoid?

I had the sticky notes widget in 10.04 and it remained when I upgraded to 10.10, but I just did a clean install of 10.10 and now I've noticed the sticky note widget doesn't exist and I can't find it online anywhere. Where'd it go and how can I get it back?

u mean it is not there when u do this:
Right click on desktop>unlock widgets>add widgets>type "notes" in search box>double click on Notes to add that widget

The 'Notes' widget is the Sticky Notes you are looking for.

This is a very helpful little thread, might I suggest that it be retitled to add in a more general statement about not being able to find "something".

The Notes widget doesn't exist. When I unlock widgets, go to Add Widgets, and type "Note" or "Notes" in the filter box, nothing shows up. And when I browse all widgets, it's not listed.

As far as I can tell, all the other widgets are available, so what happened to the notes one?

I don't know if this is related but I noticed that after I had upgraded from 10.04 to 10.10 KDE 4.5.3 the ability to set the note "color" to transparent disappeared. Anyway, I would rather have that then no Notes widget!

              I can't install it. apt-get says

"Package plasma-widget-addons is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source. However the following packages replace it: plasma-dataengines-addons

E: Package 'plasma-widget-addons' has no installation candidate"

I already have the newest version of plasma-dataengines-addons installed. Any other ideas?

Strange, it worked when I installed it via Kpackagekit.

                Thanks!

When I said to 'install plasma-widget-addson', that meant:
                    Code:
                    sudo apt-get install plasma-widget-addons
which is what occurred when you used KPackagekit to install it.

If you read my earlier posts then you should have realized that, no, that's not what happened when I ran the install from kpackagekit, since the same package installed there when it did not using "sudo apt-get install plasma-widget-addons". I'm not retarded.

Isn't it amazing, Snowhog, how much of what we know quickly becomes old knowledge (or out dated).

I remember knowing something - once - but I can't for the life of me remember what it was! Is forgetting what you knew, the same as remembering what you forgot? :P

                              Probably.

What gives me problems is not remembering what I forgot. It's not even remembering that I knew something about what I forgot. I used to use Gaussian-Jordan sweeps to solve matrix problems. Now I don't remember how to use the technique. The way things are going it won't be long before I won't even remember that I knew how to use the technique at one time. Then I won't even remember its name. It will be like I never knew it at all and didn't even suspect. i.e., Not only do I not know, I don't even suspect.
