    Problems scanning in Maverick [solved]

I having problems scanning using my Epsom Perfection 1650. I using gscan2pdf which finds the scanner but when I attempt to scan I get the following error "Operation was Cancelled". After the error I have to reconnect the usb on the scanner for gscan2pdf to see the scanner. When using xsane I got the same problems. I ran xsane from the command line and tried scanning and got this message "[epson2] e2_ext_read: cancel request received" then I tried scanimage -L which can’t find the scanner. This was working fine in kubuntu 10.04

I had similar problems until I tried skanlite. does this program help you at all?
    Home: Kubuntu 12.04-amd64; Intel i7-860 on Intel DH55PJ; Nvidia 9500GT; 6GB RAM
Network Slave: Xubuntu 11.10-x86; Intel P4-Prescott on MSI; 2GB RAM; Nvidia FX5200
Portable: Xubuntu 11.10-amd64; Asus EeePC 1015PEM

      Re: Problems scanning in Maverick

Skanlite uses the same Sane bits as everything else, so that probably will not work.

Googling the sane error turned up this:
      https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=592765
      Which also turned up this:
      https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/19861
It seems that sane now provides 2 different epson backends, and you will have to edit a config file as mentioned in the first link

Re: Problems scanning in Maverick - solved

Yes sorted. thanks claydoh. So all I did was edit the file '/etc/sane.d/dll.conf' comment out 'epson2' and
        uncomment 'epson' and problem solved.
