Screen dimming annoying in Kubuntu 10.10

I have just started running Kubuntu 10.10, and my screen keeps dimming after a number of secondds. I've tried all sorts of settings and Power settings, but it still happens. Any help would be much appreciated.

It's possibly connected to the hardware you use.
So please enlighten us.

To kind of back up what Teunis said, the better my hardware the less the dimming. It might be a cache thing.
