I am experiencing similar issue to the one described here - after I enter my credentials a black screen appears and then again the login screen.
With another user, which I added afterwards from the recovery console with adduser, there's no problem - it logs in just fine. When trying to startx from recovery console with my own user, it also works fine.
Any idea what is going wrong?
