Upgrade from Lucid not detected

I was running Lucid on two different machines and wanted to upgrade to Meerkat. On one of the machines the process worked as advertised. But on the other one, the upgrade just could not be found. Update-manager insisted that my system was up to date and I could not convince it otherwise. I did make sure that the update setting was "Normal distribution", not "LTS". How can I get past that?

I'm not sure what the specific issue is with you not being able to "see" the update, but you could just burn off the "alternate" cd and do the update using that. (it's also faster as it doesn't need to download the new packages one at a time)
