[FIXED] Kpackage Kit exited during upgrade

I am in a mess. During my upgrade the process suddenly exited leaving me with half the installation and a very poor system.
Critically I have lost use of my CD ROM too.

Is there a way to either roll back from the aborted install or to force it to complete? KPackage is not working at all now.

Alternatively can I regain control of my CD ROM from the command line and burn a new install ?

UPDATE:

Just running sudo dpkg --configure -a

Seems OK at the moment.

Now you understand why many of us feel Synaptic is a superior package manager, and also why many of us use a Konsole and issue:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade (or dist-upgrade)

after KPackageKit tells us there are a large number of files to update.
