Could connect to two Windows workgroups, now can only "see" one.

My Kubuntu notebook could successfully see both Windows workgroups on my network, "WORKGROUP" and "SKYNET".

(Due to a marketing limitation in Windows 7 Home Premium, I'm restricted from changing the default "WORKGROUP" to something else. If you know a way around that I would LOVE to find out!)

After the last round of updates (either regular updates or KDE 4.6), the "SKYNET" workgroup has disappeared.

The only computer I can connect to now is one computer with Vista on it that is part of the WORKGROUP.

Even the Windows 7 computer (WORKGROUP) is now invisible.

Suggestions?

I had no problem changing the workgroup name on a Windows 7 Home Premium box I stood up for my BIL a couple weeks back.

What exactly happened when you tried?

Well that was easy, just changed the Workgroup name on the Win7 box to SKYNET.

The "network ID" button is greyed out, microsoft want home users trying to join a domain.

But renaming the computer also allows me to change the domain, which I did.

Now to get all the computers on the same domain, then tackle the Kubuntu network issue.

Note to self - maybe it just wants to connect to one workgroup, not two?
