Re: Wireless network not working after upgrade too 10.10

    Hi there
rfkill list all shows as follows:
    tanya@acer-aspire-3680:~$ rfkill list all
    tanya@acer-aspire-3680:~$

As for the wifi switch on my laptop that is always on. I've checked it by running ubuntu 10.04 on a live cd and installing the additional drivers. It picked up the wireless networks around me no problem.

    Output for /etc/network/interfaces is:
    tanya@acer-aspire-3680:~$ sudo /etc/network/interfaces
    [sudo] password for tanya:
    sudo: /etc/network/interfaces: command not found
    tanya@acer-aspire-3680:~$

    Any ideas?

      It's:
      Code:
      sudo cat /etc/network/interfaces

          Snowflake_nz,
It looks like Maverick has more changes in it than your system can take without some serious admin work.I'm beginning to wonder if Maverick's new kernel even supports BCM4318. I think your suggestion of returning to 10.4 with a fresh reinstall (and you know how to get your wireless working in that release) is a good one. An advantage is that 10.4 is a Long Term Support (LST) distro, which means that it still has over two years of support left. That will be plenty of time to get you to the next LST release, and PAST all the changes Kubuntu Maverick (autoconfiguration, sound, video, wireless) is undergoing right now.

Oh, GreyGeek you have just read me like a book.
This morning I was going to thank you for all your help & patience with this one. But I made the decision to go back to Lucid. There's not much of a difference between Lucid & Maverick. KDE 4.5 is cool too and I can just add the ppa to update that.

So here goes; thank you for everything. I really appreciate all that we've put into trying to get this issue solved. It didn't work, but at least we tried.

I'll see you around the forums

Same happened to me on my HP tx1320us. After reading a lot of posts and trying a number of things I found out somewhere that there is a conflict with the nVidia driver and the Broadcom. Removing the nVidia driver, I find the wifi works find. I have to put up with the lesser graphics, but overall the wifi is more essential.

eduardo333 - I might just give this a try over the weekend or next week whe I get a chance. That particular laptop (Acer Aspire 3680) has now become my husbands' property after I purchased a new laptop (HP Pavilion dv6); which works fantastic with Kubuntu 10.10. Nothing to tweak, just installed it using wubi.
Once I've uninstalled nVidia I'll post the success or not of the uninstall.

I would like to add my 2¢. I too couldn't get the wireless to work after upgrading to 10.10. I tried everything and nothing worked. I was banging my head against the wall when I decided to boot 10.10 with the old kernel from 10.04 that was left in place during the upgrade. After selecting the old kernel at the grub boot screen, I was pleasantly surprised that my wireless was working again!!!

                    Hi Corn Flake
I'm a bit late again . . . nothing new. I think that your 2c worth might just do the trick. So once I can get enough time to fool around with the kernel, I can just let know if it worked
