[SOLVED] How to stop a windows HDD from booting up!?

    Hi chaps

Ive moved my old machines 160GB IDE hard-drive into my new, Kubuntu machine. It is set as IDE Slave (theres a DVD writer as master). The Kubuntu drive is in SATA 0.

The machine keeps trying to boot into windows!. Ive set the boot order in BIOS so that the kubuntu drive is first, but no matter what position i try the 2nd drive in, it still trys to boot into windows instead of Kubuntu!

Im only in it now because i pulled the power plug out the drive!

Can anyone tell me a way of stopping this happening? It doesnt seem to be doable from the BIOS, and obviously if the drives powered it tries to boot it. Is this a case for a boot CD or USB stick etc?

I need to get this drive on as it contains all my files!

    Sorted it!

Seems the BIOS on this machine has more options than you can shake a filthy stick at. I'd changed the boot order in the 'advanced' options, and in the 'boot' options, but then found theres a 'normal' option for hard-drive priority! And of course, this was the wrong way up!

I can now get on with working out how to access the files, and remove windows from the drive

There is really no need to double post your questions. Stick with one thread. Those of us who are active on this forum will see your question. I'm glad you figured it out.

Sorry about that! It kinda split off at a bit of a tangent!
