[Solved]Need to purchase a flatbed scanner.

I am in need of a stand alone flatbed scanner. I have been to the sane web site and have searched diligently for the scanners listed there as compatible, but most of them are no longer being sold as new. Some of them are available used, but not new. The scanners I find new, are not listed. I am looking for something no more than $150. 1200dpi is acceptable but 2400dpi would of course be more desirable. So if any of you have a recently purchsed scanner that works out of the box, let me know. TIA.

    Cannon portable flatbed scanner works.

    Canoscan Lide70

However, the above might not be available for you so you could check this site and find one that is on sale at the nearest box store:

Found a used one said to be in very good condition on Amazon for $40. They don't seem to be available new. Ordered it.

      Thanks.

I purchased an HP 5610 multi-purpose printer, fax, and scanner. I don't use the printer because ink is too expensive and bubble jets are too slow. My duplex HP laser works just fine for printing.

But, the 5610's scanner is very fast and has very good resolution.

Yes, that is what I have been using. A HP All-in-one. But the scanner is acting up a does not always work. I am getting the scanner to be a stand alone scanner. I had a Canon before and it was a good scanner, so I feel pretty good about this one. I do not plan to replace the cartridges in this printer when they go out. I will replace it with a stand alone printer for color. I already have two laser printers that I use for most of my printing, but occasionally I need color. This printer is several years old and prone to acting up, paper jams and such. The other problem is it has a built in card reader feature that causes errors in my boot up, slowing down my boot time. I've tried disabling it but it still causes errors. The only way I can get around the errors is to leave a camera card in one of the slots. When I buy a replacement printer I will find one without this feature which I never use.

Received the Canon CanoScan LiDE 20 Scanner. Plugged it in and it works great. No setup required. Thanks very much for the recommendation.
