Get back Live CD video card defaults

I've been spending a fair bit of time (unsuccessfully) trying to get my Nvidia 310M card working. I've followed quite a few online how-to's without success and am at the point now where when I plug in an external monitor to my laptop it doesn't work quite right (oddly enough, the desktop is the same physical size as the laptop).

Anyway, I loaded up the live CD and the video problem disappears and I can use my external fine with the live CD defaults. So my question is how can I get my video setting on my laptop back to the live CD defaults without doing a full re-install?

    Thanks for the help.

If you have a filed named xorg.conf in /etc/X11, delete it and reboot. Open konsole and run
    Code:
    sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Yup that worked. Thanks. Still not idea because my LCD is a different dimension compared to my external but I don't have time to fix it right now.

      Thanks for the help! Cheers.
