    SOLVED 5550HD and Radeon Driver

    Hi.
I just installed Kubuntu 10.10 , been using gnome Ubuntu for a few years. At the same time I bought a new video card , the VisionTech 5550HD.
My Nvidia card seemed to conflict with my HVR1600 tuner , so I thought I would switch to ATI.
With the FGRLX driver , there was an error in the xorg.log , so I thought I would just use the Radion Driver. It works , but glxinfo shows "OpenGL renderer string: Software Rasterizer". I assume this means no hardware acceleration. Is this normal. Graphics seem a bit choppy , I would like to get one driver or the other to perform well .
By the way , I have a few problems with Kubuntu , but over all I am really liking it 1

You might have a problem with an incomplete removal of the fglrx bits. See
